“Game of Thrones Writers Confirmed That Drogon Took Daenerys To Volantis”
Daenerys Targaryen, being one of the most popular from the show, had one of the most debated arcs. And whether her story felt rushed or not, the Mother of Dragons ultimately died. But the writers just confirmed where Drogon took her body, and that could hint at a possible resurrection.
In the new DVD and Blu-ray release for Season 8 of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss confirmed that Drogon didn’t destroy Daenerys’ body.
“Drogon not going to eat her – he’s not a cat,” Benioff said in the commentary for the finale, according to The Sun. “Did you see how gently he was nudging her?”
After destroying the Iron Throne, Drogon scooped up his Mother and flew off with her. Since that’s the last anyone sees of Daenerys, there were theories about where he took her.
Benioff and Weiss further confirmed that those who guessed Volantis are correct. This makes even more sense because Volantis is the motherland for Targaryens and where they initially resided with their dragons centuries ago.
Samwell Tarly started to say Drogon was heading east, towards this city, but was cut off at the final meeting shown on the show. The Sun points out, the theory about Drogon, Daenerys, and Volantis also involves Kinvara, a priestess from that region who could resurrect people.
This confirmation might also confirm a fan theory that Daenerys could live again.
The high priestess Kinvara is part of the same religion as Melisandre, and they worship the Lord of Light. Kinvara was only on the show for a short bit in Season 6 and told Varys and Tyrion that she believed Daenerys was the one who was promised.
Since the show never confirmed anyone as Azor Ahai, who’s to say that the people of Volantis and this high priestess don’t still think this.
If Drogon brings Daenerys back to this place, where magic and dragons reign from, Kinvara could bring her back. Melisandre brought Jon back; a cohort of them could quickly bring Daenerys back, too.
It’s fun to imagine what could be when it comes to Game of Thrones. Especially when the audience disliked the final season so much, theorizing about Daenerys’ whereabouts is fulfilling.
If House of The Dragon ever wanted to expand outside of the past, Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen’s story might not be quite finished yet.
Volantis is the motherland of the Targaryens and where they resided with their dragons centuries ago? Nope. That was Valyria.
@Rahel Volz, Volantis is the oldest, the first colony of Valyria. After the Doom.
